2021 Talk To End Alzheimer’s

2021 Talk To End Alzheimer’s

INDIANAPOLIS – Eagle & Fein, P.C. hosted its second Talk to End Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Brian Eagle designed this event specifically to combine his passion for joining the Alzheimer’s Association in their vision to Live in a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia, with the hope that we are closer than ever before.

During the Talk to End Alzheimer’s, Brian detailed the journey of his friend and colleague, Mike Langdon, through his diagnosis to the challenges facing him daily as the disease progresses. He quoted his friend directly from his book:

“Upon hearing my diagnosis – that I did have Alzheimer’s – this is how I felt over the next several days: upset, in disbelief, angry, embarrassed, fearful and without hope. I think a lot of people – patients and caregivers alike – probably react the same way. It’s pretty normal. However, these reactions can and should be dealt with and overcome. After all, an Alzheimer’s patient likely has at least several years to live – and often a lot more. People need to work through these feelings and decide to face the future as best they can, and enjoy life as much as possible.”

From Alzheimer’s – A Patient’s Journey (Langdon, 2020, p. 3).

This message of hope from Mike is the driving force behind Brian’s passion for supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. Brian was joined in the Talk to End Alzheimer’s by Julie Moore, the Alzheimer’s Association’s Director of the Indianapolis Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Julie informed attendees of the care and support services available from the Alzheimer’s Association that are free of charge. These services include their 24/7 helpline (1-800-272-3900). The 24/7 helpline is funded from the proceeds raised during the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and has trained social workers on staff during every shift.

Additionally, Julie spoke about the emerging medications. As of July 2020, the first treatment for Alzheimer’s is on the market to combat the disease beyond suppressing the symptoms. The Alzheimer’s Association is excited about the discoveries and advancement of treatments that provide more hope on the horizon.

The evening concluded with an inspired performance by Tenor, Ganson Salmon.  Ganson, fresh from performing as a Gerdine Young Artist with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, will soon be taking his talents to Germany.

Brian Eagle and his team are committed to joining the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in their quest to raise the white flower in honor of the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.  Visit our team page to join us for the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
