Brian and Carol attend CICF Conference

INDIANAPOLIS – April 17, 2019, Brian Eagle & Carol Greer were in the audience as the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) discussed dismantling systemic racism and how it impacts the Indianapolis community. This is one of CICF’s five leadership initiatives that make up the CICF’s five-year strategic plan.

Systemic racism endures when public policies, institutional practices, cultural representations, and other normality’s work in various and often reinforcing ways to perpetuate racial group inequity. These actions, policies, and systems happen over time and even though there are efforts to reform and repeal these transgressions; some outcomes remain unchanged.

“Maybe that law doesn’t exist anymore as a racist law or that policy has been changed, but the outcomes have not changed,” stated Brian Payne, President of CICF. “It all adds up to keeping people down because of their race, their ethnicity, the color of their skin, and you might say, “Well, that doesn’t exist anymore,” but it existed for generations, and the outcomes, the outcomes, still exist.”

Brian Eagle has a long tradition of providing leadership within the CICF. Prior to the official formation of the Professional Advisor Leadership Council (PALC), he served on their initial professional advisory committees. In November 2000, Brian was the recipient of the Professional Partners in Philanthropy Award from the CICF, in recognition of his service to the foundation. Brian currently serves as part of the Cornerstone Advisory Council which includes former members of CICF’s PALC.

Carol Greer has a passion for promoting social equality and providing impactful insight regarding charitable giving when our clients wish to leave an enduring mark on the local community.  “I feel that it is part of my duty as a public servant to be aware and bring awareness of the efforts to improve our local community,” stated associate attorney, Carol Greer. “CICF works in so many avenues to make Central Indiana a better place to work and live.”

CICF uses its platform to promote inclusion and to be a catalyst for change in Central Indiana. In Marion County, they seek to create neighborhoods and environments that empower people and change systems that unfairly hold people back and dismantle systemic racism.
