Honoring Your Parent Senior Conference

Honoring Your Parent Senior Conference

INDIANAPOLIS – On Saturday, April 13, 2019, the inaugural Honoring Your Parents in Aging and Illness Senior Conference was hosted at New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown, Indiana. The Conference was the vision and organized by Lona Newton, owner of Senior Living Advisor, LLC.

The Senior Conference provided the opportunity for members of the public to be introduced and hear speakers present on topics ranging from legal planning, financial planning, relocation services, preserving life stories and awareness of scam prevention. The keynote speaker was Dr. Stephanie Gardner, who presented on PulsePoint which is a mobile application designed to empower CPR-trained citizens to help improve patient outcomes and save lives by reducing collapse-to-CPR and collapse-to-defibrillation times.

“What a blessed opportunity to be lead to present a Honoring Your Parents in Aging and Illness Senior Conference On April 13th,” said Lona. “The top professionals in the area were there to give out free important information to help our attendees with the journey with their parents, grandparents and most walked away feeling they gained  information for themselves.  I am looking forward to adding more in the near future!”

During the Senior Conference, Mike Langdon, a close friend of the firm and champion of Eagle & Fein’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team, was interviewed by Lona and telling his journey through the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s to his mission to enhance awareness about the disease. It was an uplifting message of faith and continuing the dialogue about providing care and support for those with and those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s.

Melissa Claycomb of Eagle & Fein, P.C. was on hand at the event. She also serves as part of the Planning Committee with the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “This was a great chance to meet with members of the community to provide encouragement about planning for the future and describe why I am invested in volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association. No one plans on developing memory issues but it is important for families to have discussions, know what their loved one’s wishes are, and know where to find resources for Alzheimer’s care.”
